The Road

The Road - Cormac McCarthy Any book that sparks so much dialogue among readers has to have something going for it, and while McCarthy's narrative style is an acquired taste, it's easy to get swept (or perhaps "shoved" might be a better word) along THE ROAD. A heart-rending tale of a father trying to protect his son in a post-apocalyptic world, the true horror to be found in this novel is not in the nature of the enemy, but in the realization that when society falls, all we'll have are those we love. And even then, they will be easy to lose.
